This program aimed to guarantee the biological diversity of the aquatic fauna, ensuring its conservation. For this, Investco formalized a contract with Unitins, Porto Nacional campus. Through the partnership, a fish ladder was built for the ascent and descent of the ichthyofauna, guaranteeing access to both sides of the dam.
This program’s activities included the marking of fish, fish ladder implantation, the rescue of fish in the HPP facilities and the preservation of spawning areas and natural breeding grounds.
The actions initially foreseen in this program concluded, but Investco continues the monitoring and other researches through the Nucleus of Environmental Studies of the Federal University of Tocantins Foundation (abbreviated in Portuguese as NEAMB). Among the new research is the study of fish behavior, being necessary the temporary blocking of the fish transposition mechanism.
