This program’s purpose was to adapt the urban layout and coastline infrastructure of Porto Nacional to the reservoir. For this, the properties located in the affected areas were unoccupied and unused. The redevelopment improved the physical and functional conditions of this area of the city, ensuring comfort and safety for the population.

The urban areas within the Safety Range were utilized for community usage and environmental preservation. The project took into consideration the guidelines of the existing urban structure, considering the spatial organization values and the local norms concerning terrain use.

The road infrastructure has been adapted and supplemented to accommodate new needs. Circulatory roads, such as Joaquim Aires Avenue and Do Contorno Avenue were partially rebuilt, and two new bridges were constructed on São João creek.

The project also preserved the historic center’s hierarchy and considered as a fundamental guideline the relationship between the city and the river, using the redeveloped sector as an element of integration between the community and nature, creating spaces for activities relating to leisure, sports, and culture.

The actions related to the coastline redevelopment of Porto Nacional are concluded. All the installed works are being used by the population of Porto Nacional, and their maintenance is the Municipal Government´s responsibility.

Investco also has as its priority the promotion of land regularization concerning the implementation area of the Beira Rio Avenue and the transferring of its domain to the municipality of Porto Nacional. Since October 2006, meetings have been held with the local authority to expedite the land regularization process of the Beira Rio Avenue and the remaining properties acquired by Investco on the locality.
